Mission Statement

The Placentia Community Foundation solicits, receives, invests, and makes grants of funds property and other resources to provide direct charitable services to aid, sponsor, promote, advance and assist worthy activities, programs and services, in support of cultural, educational and recreational events and causes.

Background Statement

The purpose of the Placentia Community Foundation is to preserve, protect and enhance the quality of life for residents of Placentia by establishing or funding programs that address the cultural, recreational and educational needs of this community. The goals in support of the Placentia Community Foundation’s mission are to:
  • Solicit, receive, invest and make grants of funds, property and other resources to provide direct charitable services.
  • To aid, sponsor, promote, advance and assist worthy activities, programs and services in the City of Placentia.
  • To focus on and further the cultural, educational, and recreational needs of the community.

Impact Statement

The Placentia Community Foundation's mission is to support local organizations with grant opportunities.  These grants further several functions within the community ranging from after-school programs to restoring homes for low income residents.  Since 2012, the Foundation has provided over $47,000 towards 21 grants for community programs and events.

Needs Statement

The financial need to support community programs expands annually.  As organizational budgets constrict additional support is needed to continue the variety of programs and activities that build civic pride and community spirit.  The Placentia Community Foundation can assist in meeting these needs by providing annual grants to organizations of up to $5,000.  Additional donations and sponsorships are needed to continue to support this annual effort.

Annual Community Grant Program

The Placentia Community Foundation's mission is to support local organizations with grant opportunities.  These grants further several functions within the community ranging from after-school programs to restoring homes for low income residents.  Since 2012, the Foundation has provided over $47,000 towards 21 grants for community programs and events.  The foundation needs additional funds to continue this program in 2016 and beyond.

Program Short-Term Success 
All funds raised this current calendar year will support providing additional community grants in areas that we have funded previously such as backpacks and school supplies for over 100 low income students, food service programs for over 1,000 low income families, after school programs that serve over 200 students, emergency equipment for Police explorers and disaster relief volunteers, and community events such as the Heritage Festival that has over 20,000 participants.
Program Long-Term Success 
Community grants will help local organizations continue the variety of programs and activities including food assistance, after-school programs, school supplies, emergency response, housing for low-income seniors, and recreation programs.
Program Success Monitored By 
The Placentia Community Foundation monitors all programs funded through grants and receives 60 day reports on the progress of their program/event goals, financial reports, and final reports once their program is completed.  The Foundation also meets with grant recipients during Board Members to review their progress. 
Examples of Program Success 
At the end of the current community grant program, the Foundation will have provided funding for 125 backpacks for low income children, a new community arts center, library historical preservation project, field trips for elementary school students, emergency response equipment, and a large community festival.
