Background Statement

Grace Classical Academy is located in Laguna Niguel, CA.  Grace Classical Academy opened her doors in the Fall of 2003 with three board members (James Wenger, Guy Baker, and Michael Duhs), nine full-time students and three full-time teachers. The school rented space from Crossroads Community Church in Mission Viejo, CA. This was a year in which teachers (both full-time and part-time), volunteers, parents, and board members made great sacrifices in order to ensure the future of the school. Since then, the Academy has grown considerably. The Academy relocated to Laguna Niguel, CA, in the fall of 2007. We now have 100+ K-8th grade students enrolled in our Academy.

CEO Statement

Grace Classical Academy is unique in that it is the only classical, Christian K-8 school in Orange County. We strive to offer an academically rigorous education in a distinctively Christian manner. We seek to produce life-long learners who are equipped to live transformational lives.

We begin our students education laying a foundation that will result in strong critical thinkers. We begin in Kindergarten teaching our students to spell and read through a multi-sensory, analytic phonics program. We follow this up with formal Latin studies beginning in 2nd grade. Latin continues building precise thinking skills. Latin studies are continued through 8th grade. In second grade students begin their studies of Western Civilization.  In 7th and 8th grade we teach Formal and Informal Logic so that our students learn to listen, respond, question, and communicate effectively. These students take an integrated History, Literature, and Theology class where they begin reading the classics which allows them to be taught how to think by the greatest thinkers of all time.

Our students preform well above grade level in all subject areas but most importantly our students love to learn and leave us equipped with a strong Christian worldview.

Board Chair Statement

Our Mission Statement: "To cultivate wise and virtuous students in a Christ-centered way"

Our passion is to create a nurturing classroom environment that will produce critical thinkers to go on to be the leaders of tomorrow. We excel at partnering with parents to cultivate our students to be able to see truth and beauty in all the subjects in the curriculum and do it in a way that puts Christ at the center of it all. Our strength is our continued reliance on God for His constant blessings year after year and His gift of teachers and families that uphold these same truths.
Having our future local, regional and global leaders to think critically to analyze problems will help them see the truth in life and help them to respectively and eloquently debate their viewpoint. Our students are being prepared to make a difference in society. Teaching them logic, critical thinking skills, and lessons from the great books like "The Odyssey", "The Iliad", and Dante's "Inferno" gives them exposure to history and ancient society. With this curriculum, they will be the givers, not the takers.
Our faculty is another strength that has served to further the school's reputation not only academically, but also spiritually. How many other schools can say that their teachers pray over their students before class? Or pray with the parents prior to parent/teacher conferences? We want our he students well educated, but we want their spiritual education to be even more rigorous. This is possible with our small class sizes (average 10-15 students/class) and committed staff.
Grace Classical Academy has been in existence since 2003 and has grown from just a few families, to now over 60 families from all over Orange County. Continuing to open our school up for all students, means that we rely heavily on fundraising to keep tuition costs down so this exceptional opportunity can be available to all.
We are currently a K-8 school and have had excellent scholastic success with numerous individual student achievements and outstanding scores on standardized testing. We feel we have excelled in our current endeavors but look forward to adding a high school in the future. Imagine what we can achieve with state of the art science labs, computer science rooms, a drama department, and more.
To maintain and grow our school and it's excellent academic and character building capabilities, we are seeking new donors to come along side of us to help fund great teachers, additional scholarships, new and innovative programs and additional facilities. It is our goal to become the best K-12 school academically, spiritually and culturally. I am blessed to be part of such an amazing family.
