Background Statement

Since our incorporation in 1967 as one of the first Head Start programs in Orange County, Orange Children and Parents Together, Inc. has grown from a small classroom in a church basement to serving 500 vulnerable young children and their families at six child development centers. All our child development centers are fully accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children -- the hallmark of high quality early education programs.

Impact Statement

Based on rigorous educational outcome measures, nearly 92% of the 440 children participating in our high quality school readiness programs enter kindergarten well prepared to succeed.
We support parents and families in establishing positive parent-child relationships and we promote lifelong learning in the home environment through programs such as Raising A Reader.

Needs Statement

Our organization was founded in 1967 as one of the first Head Start programs in Orange County. All federally-funded Head Start grant programs are required to contribute 20 percent of the total cost of the programs from non-federal funds. This means that each year we are required to raise a minimum of $700,000 from non-federal sources, including individuals, foundations, corporations as well as in-kind donations, to support our school readiness and family support programs.

CEO Statement

At Orange Children and Parents Together, we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to succeed and to dream of a brighter tomorrow. We know that strong families lead to healthy, productive communities. We know that with a little guidance and support, every parent can become their child's first teacher and role model.

Board Chair Statement

It is our belief that it takes a village to raise a children and that together we can build a community worthy of our children.
