Overview

Mission Statement

ECofOC’s mission is to accelerate the rate of development of Orange County’s nonprofit managers through the long term coaching and mentoring services that we offer at no cost.

Background Statement

ECofOC was started up in 2003 by a six SCORE volunteers working with six clients. When we incorporated in 2005, we had 18 clients.  By 2010 we had about 50 coaching clients and received the Orange County Community Foundation’s annual award for Philanthropic Excellence. In 2015, we were coaching and mentoring over 100 nonprofit managers.

Impact Statement

Over 25 volunteer Executive Coaches mentor and coach over 100 nonprofit managers, making us, by far, the largest nonprofit coaching organization in the county. We offer this service at no cost to our client or their nonprofit. The coaching relationship lasts as long as our clients feel the effort is worthwhile. It is a great satisfaction to us that our clients, on average,  had been working with their coach for over 35 months.

Many nonprofits do not fund the training programs that their managers need to continually improve their effectiveness. So we offer to pay 80% of the cost of any OneOC trainings that our clients would like to take. We also sponsor the OneOC scholarship program available to all Orange County nonprofit managers.

Our third program is the Executive Director Forum. This offers EDs the opportunity to participate in a peer-to-peer learning group that we facilitate. The ED Forum meets once a month for a half day to help its members resolve issues that they present at their Forum.

In 2012, we continued our practice of publishing a weekly article of information and ideas for nonprofit managers, directors and board members. Over 300 articles, categorized by date and topic, are posted on our blog at www.ManagingNonprofits.org

Needs Statement

We would like to be coaching and mentoring more nonprofit directors, leaders or managers who want to accelerate their rate of development of themselves or their nonprofit. Please refer any prospects to our website www.ECofOC.org where they can learn more about our programs and can apply for an Executive Coach or for membership in an ED Forum.
