Overview

Mission Statement

To provide love and support to babies in need through the gift of handmade blankets. They are donated by seniors who lovingly give of their time and talent to make them.

Background Statement

Years before the incorporation in 2012 of WMBB, Colleen Domoslai had a passion to help those in need.  Her years of being a "stay at home" mother of 3 daughters, love of crocheting blankets, and being active in her community was the perfect combination needed to started the organization.  Lives are enriched for the seniors who make the blankets, families who are supported by the blankets received, and donors who provide the support financially and volunteering on projects.

Impact Statement

Aspiring to jumpstart the organization in 2012:  senior groups, baby nonprofits, donors, grants, and materials needed were sought out by the Founder.  Educational, legal, governmental, and  local agencies were contacted to support management's awareness of these areas.  Donations were accepted and especially welcomed by Bread for The Journey organization.  CEO, Colleen Domoslai, received an "Impressive Business Professional" award from Women's Business Connections in 2013.

The goals for 2015 are:   to increase community awareness by social media, newspapers, magazines, fundraisers, securing grants and donors to support programs and materials needed, manage the process of the production and distribution of the baby blankets, and increasing the amount of senior groups and baby recipients for these blankets.

Needs Statement

The nonprofit can initially be supported by online donations, yarn provided by yarn manufacturers, volunteers from senior groups to make the blankets, baby nonprofits in need of these blankets, social/local media support to provide awareness to the community, and creative ideas to enhance this endeavor.  One planned project would be to engage high school students to form a club to knit/crochet Americana baby blankets to be donated at a "baby shower" for military families on local bases. This would allow the students to fulfill their community service requirements for school.

CEO Statement

The uniqueness of this organization comes from the providing of materials and support needed to accomplish the production of the baby blankets.  Seniors and babies alike will be encouraged with the outpouring of care and love from individuals and the community.  Their lives will not only be impacted, but those that give of their resources, time, and caring will also be enriched.

Board Chair Statement

As the Founder of this nonprofit, it gives me great personal achievement to be able to enrich people's lives by showing how special each person is; whether at the beginning of their life or nearing the end of it. It demonstrates to the community how one person can make a difference in improving life to those in need of love and support.

Other Ways to Donate/Volunteer

We welcome donations by mail or online giving through our secured website, senior groups/high school students to volunteer to make the blankets with our provided yarn, and any creative ideas for fundraising and the marketing of the organization.

These blankets will also be a source of warmth, security, and a keepsake for years to come.

Program Short-Term Success  Our program works to enhance our mission statement and will include more group types, possibly high school students, which will enable them to complete their community service requirements for graduation.
Program Long-Term Success  The success our programs is measured  measured by the amount of support:  financially, amount of volunteers, quantity of baby blankets produced, and the increased awareness of the nonprofit.
