Overview

Mission Statement

Turning voices into action to end elder abuse.

Background Statement

Ageless Alliance: United Against Elder Abuse was founded in 2012 by Dr. Kerry Burnight a Professor of Geriatric Medicine and Gerontology at the University of California, Irvine. Having worked on thousands of cases of elder abuse, neglect, and exploitation, Burnight and her team recognized the need to take action. In 2014, Kerry Burnight created Ageless Alliance as a Non-Profit 501(c)(3). Ageless Alliance is to Elder Abuse what MADD is to Drunk Driving -an organization mobilizing forces to address and prevent a devastating problem. Ageless Alliance is turning voices into action to end elder abuse. Ageless Alliance was recognized by the US Administration on Aging who featured its work at the White House. Ageless Alliance is a key partner with the National Center on Elder Abuse.

  • Obtained a 501(c)(3) enabling Ageless Alliance to move forward with advocacy.
  • Assembled key professionals and advocates to provide insight and direction.
  • Attained recognition at the White House Conference on Aging for grassroots efforts to combat elder abuse.

Needs Statement

  • Financial Support for technology to capture and archive the stories of those who endured elder abuse via phone and online ($7,500).
  • Financial support to propel our advocacy efforts forward.
  • Financial support to continue awareness and education about the problem and our solution to end elder abuse.

Board Chair Statement

Our board is comprised of CEOs from Hospice, Home Care, Geriatric Medicine, and Gerontology. Together we are committed to tackling an issue that has long been overlooked: the abuse, neglect, exploitation, and indignity endured by the oldest among us. Millions of Americans are suffering in silence. A recent study showed that over half of older adults with cognitive impairment endure physical, financial, psychological, sexual abuse or neglect during the course of their illness. Like you we will not tolerate the mistreatment of older adults and by banding together to take a stand, we can make later adulthood a time of dignity, autonomy, and safety.

With gratitude,

Kerry Burnight, PhD, Founder & Board Member

Ann Hablitzel, RN, MBA, Board Secretary & Executive Director

Chris Jenkins, Board Chairman & Treasurer
