Overview

Mission Statement

For 68 years, the San Clemente Junior Woman's Club (SCJWC) has served our community with women committed to promoting volunteerism, improving our community, and fostering new friendships. We volunteer our time and talents and provide financial support for civic, cultural, education and social projects. We dedicate these efforts to the betterment of our families, our friends and the future of San Clemente.

Background Statement

The San Clemente Junior Woman’s Club was organized in January 1948, and officially federated on May 7, 1948. Sponsored by the San Clemente Woman’s Club, we are members of Area D and the California Junior Membership. Our club colors are pink and white, and our club flower isthe carnation.

Impact Statement

Our mission for 2015 is to collaborate with members of our community, local businesses, and our city to make a positive impact for those who need it most. From delivering Meals on Wheels to providing over 400 holiday gifts to children and elderly in need through “Project Angel Tree”, we use our strength in working together to make a difference in peoples lives.

Needs Statement

We are always looking for new members to join us in helping so many amazing organizations in our community! We also collect soda can pop tops for the Ronald McDonald House, toiletries for Laura's House and accept cash donations of any dollar amount.

CEO Statement

Welcome to the San Clemente Junior Woman’s Club! Our Club provides a way to give back, make an impact in our community and work with a great group of women. Over the past 66 years, the San Clemente Junior Woman’s Club has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars and served countless hours of volunteer time supporting those in need. The Club supports a wide range of causes and beneficiaries. This year our theme is “Imagine, Impact, Inspire”. Imagine: the possibilities, what we can do together, the support we can give to our community. Impact: the community, groups as well as individuals, our own lives. Inspire: each other, others, the community. Each of us has been brought to the San Clemente Junior Woman’s Club for different reasons, different passions, and a different purpose. Together we are a strong group of women driven with the common goal of providing valuable service and philanthropy to our community and beyond. Not only do we work to “Imagine, Impact, & Inspire”, but it is also an opportunity to gain new friends! “You make a living by what you earn; you make a life by what you give.” – Anonymous In 2014, let’s Imagine, Impact & Inspire together!

Board Chair Statement

Our biggest challenge is always funding. We are a small club of approximately 40 members and still manage to give almost $25k to multiple local organizations every year. We have several fundraising events and ongoing projects, but are always looking for extra ways to cover our small administrative costs to be able to give even more back!

Programs

Angel Tree

Each year, SCJWC coordinates with the Boys & Girls Club, FAM, and the RIO Center to provide gifts to underprivileged children, seniors, victims of domestic violence, and special needs adults in our community. We place each Christmas wish on an ornament, and hang these on our Angel Tree in the SC Community Center. Generous members of our community then take the ornaments and buy a wish (or two) and bring the wrapped gifts back to the angel tree. We then distribute these gifts to our neighbors who otherwise wouldn't get much for Christmas!
Budget  $1,000.00
Category  Human Services, General/Other Children & Youth Services
Population Served Children and Youth (0 - 19 years) Elderly and/or Disabled People/Families with of People with Disabilities
Program Short-Term Success  The goal of Angel Tree is to remind our less-fortunate neighbors that they are still loved and thought about and that they can still have a wonderful holiday season.
Program Long-Term Success  Each year, SCJWC strives to collect over 300 gifts for our Angel Tree for local low-income kids, seniors and disabled adults around Christmas. We would love to increase this to 500 going foward!
Program Success Monitored By  Number of gifts collected and given each year.
Examples of Program Success  In 2015 we collected over 300 gifts for the local Boys & Girls Club, Laura's House, RIO Adult Day Care center and SC Senior Center.
