Background Statement

Jasper Ray Foundation for Drowning Prevention and Child Safety was formed out of the love for Jasper Ray St. Clair who drowned while in the care of a babysitter. Jasper did not reach his second birthday due to a 100% preventable tragedy. Jasper Ray Foundation is bringing awareness to drowning with hope that people will take any necessary steps to prevent a drowning in their lives. There are no safe pools. Never leave a child unattended around water.

Impact Statement

Throughout the last year, some of the key areas of focus for Jasper Ray Foundation for Drowning Prevention included:
- Spreading the story of Jasper Ray St. Clair through community outreach programs, school flyers, and social to bring drowning awareness and prevention to the community
- Formed a strategic partnership with Orange County chapter IPPSA (Independent Pool and Spa Service Association) to reach every pool owner on the danger of ungated pools
- Formed committees within Jasper Ray Foundation to facilitate and manage all outreach programs

Needs Statement

To continue to raise awareness and provide education on drowning prevention, we are working on:
- Creating Water Safety Certification for Caretakers. Educate on water safety and drowning prevention.
- Creating and Funding Grant Programs for pool gates, swim lessons, and water safety preparation

CEO Statement

Drowning is the leading cause of accidental death for one to four year old children. Orange County leads the nation in drowning deaths. We lost our 21 month old son to this 100% preventable tragedy and now are working to make sure no one else in Orange County has to survive the death of a child. We want to change the way people think about drowning and we need your help. Please consider donating to this important cause!
