Overview

Mission Statement

NC4GK is dedicated to making a better world by sourcing bulk gifts of new clothing from manufacturers and providing them to our distribution partners to give to people in need.  We repackage each item of new clothing with a clear gospel presentation, providing physical comfort, spiritual nourishment, and a sense of dignity to the recipient.  Our financial supporters are assured of exceptional leverage for their contributions by enjoying a greater than fifteen times multiple in retail value of gifted clothing for each dollar contributed.

Background Statement

New Clothes 4 God’s Kids was born during the Arctic Polar Vortex of 2014. Co-founder Greg Bright saw record snowfalls hit the Eastern United States, learned about those who died because of a lack of warm clothing, and decided to do something about it.

Working with John Lehner, Tim Bernardy, and Gary Lorenz, the organization quickly took shape. Both Greg and Tim had connections with clothing manufacturers and distributors that could provide donations of new clothing, while John and Gary worked to establish NC4GK as a non-profit organization. With these needs met, John and Greg set out to find a way to get these clothes to the people who needed them most. They found a willing partner in The Salvation Army, one of the world’s largest charitable organizations.

Impact Statement

Since its inception, NC4GK has given tens of thousands of articles of clothing to families across Southern California. In 2014, 1,538 gifts were given at an event in Anaheim. In 2015, that number swelled to 7,292. In 2016, both Christmastime events – South Central Los Angeles and Anaheim – saw NC4GK run out of clothes on the first day.

In 2017, the number of families served and manufacturers donating new clothing grew again. We distributed over 20 pallets of new clothing at our events during 2017 (South Central Los Angeles and Anaheim). The Salvation Army in 2017 was again a key partner as they vetted (qualified) families and children for distribution events. This allowed NC4GK to focus on the distribution of over 25,000 pieces of clothing. We were also able to distribute clothing to other non-profits operating in Orange County (that focus on the homeless and children's shelter).

Needs Statement

We need volunteers who can help sort, bag, and tag our gift bags when clothing is available. We are also in need of finding more clothing distributors we can work with.

Programs

Salvation Army Christmas Distribution Event

Annual Christmas distribution event with The Salvation Army of Orange County.  The event is held over three days a week before Christmas at Angel Stadium of Anaheim.
Budget  $17,100.00
Category  Human Services, General/Other Personal Social Services
Population Served Families
Program Short-Term Success  Providing a new article of clothing to a person in need as vetted by the Salvation Army along with a booklet providing a clear presentation of a gospel message.
Program Long-Term Success  Long term success will come from recipients who have responded positively to the gift of a article of new clothing they received and caused them to reflect on why someone would care to do that for them.  This leads them to read the gospel presentation booklet and eventually make a decision to follow Jesus Christ.
Program Success Monitored By  Since we proved gifts of clothing to the Salvation Army in bulk, we don't have visibility through to the final recipient in most cases as they are clients of the Salvation Army.
Examples of Program Success  We have some unrecorded in-person interviews with recipients who have expressed their deeply felt gratefulness for the gift they received at the Christmas distribution event.
